"Eye of Judgment cards can be copied, played" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-02 00:19:52

with the PlayStation Eye can not only be copied but those dupes can be used in regular compete. Though the cards were supposedly printed with some sort of magical ink supposed to prevent this sort of thing it's apparently happening pretty rampantly. The winners here are as you may have guessed the unscrupulous who can add new cards to their deck at the bargain price of The losers are honest populate like yourself that will undergo to buy packs and possibly still not get the cards they want. Oh and Sony and Wizards of the Coast have the potential to suffer big time too as they're paying to print the things and ship them to stores. But we trust you not to hurt their furnish lie so callously dear readers. We know that when you forbid buying a case of cards to spread on a delay to let a camera take a picture of them you'll be doing it for the Perhaps if I was interested in being celibate I would purchase "Eye of Judgment." I did imply earlier that I am at a certain aim of nerdville just not the "Eye of Judgment" aim! I think the fact that you can print your own cards is irrelevant. This game was a niche game from the start! The whole worry about copying is rather silly. People undergo been able to do this with every collectible card game out so far yet the impact is off the radar. Making a copy proof system would probably made the cards so expensive that nobody would have bought them for that cerebrate. Keeping the cards affordable (yet possible to write) is a better way of combating piracy than expensive and usability painful locking technologies. The music industry is slowly waking up to that fact in regards to music online. In the end I think when you get hooked on a collectible card bet you want 'real' cards and thus do not bother with copies. Will populate copy cards sure. But I think it will be a small issue. And the main copiers will be people to try to copy every rare and expensive card out there then gets frustrated when their 'superdeck' suffer most of the measure and they move on to something else. My beat decks in Magic the Gathering had almost no special cards in them instead it was based on small common cards which synergized come up. ^So worrying about people stealing a product that you invested millions in is an unfounded concern? gratify.... And these cheaters won't get hooked on "real" cards the same way cheaters in any other online game don't get hooked on "real" victories or stats. They can and will cheat behind a veil of anonymity. I undergo mixed feelings about.

"Your blog has been copied?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:23:06

The latest victim in my circle happened to be whose contents have been copied into. Unfortunately. I feel there is little we can do to plagiarism. You don’t see a banner in my blog because I don’t see how that can prevent unscrupulous individuals from copying my posts. However what Copyscape can only do is to make life a little easier for you to determine the copied contents and their respective sites. The be is on your own. Frankly that disclaimer or So if I am a plagiarist do you think I care about the Copyscape’s banner you put up? The answer is no. Having said so. Copyscape does provide a guide in. How successful? I undergo no idea. What about the webhost? I found that toysrours domain is registered through GoDaddy but there is little GoDaddy can do too. The domain has been registered through GoDaddy but it can’t do anything when the contents are hosted on another webhost assumingly. The registrant is listed as NR Publishing Pty Ltd in Western Australia but I found no further information or website online that can remove some light on the identity of this affiliate. Perhaps it is one of those fly-by-night companies. All in all what is there to protect bloggers from having their contents copied? Little! Not unless one seriously feel like spending a fortune on legal fees to hunt drink the culprit but how many populate ordain? I know it does not feel good because I have populate copying my contents too. But what can I do? I guess I have grown to it. As desire as my readers know this is the real site that is good enough. It’s not as if my readers will hop over to that communicate Meanwhile no matter how mad we are… Plagiarism is here to stay. Unfortunately. @ECLI undergo mine copied too. So angry. But there’s not much I can do. I experience that some hotlink pictures from your place to care for your bandwidth. Not much to do but I read the there’s a script to leech the conceive of URL to be replaced with your designated “Wanna see more? <attach your URL” image. As for text contents. I have absolutely no idea how to teach those leechers. Oh. I express them To fit the opinions here a bit: I personally don’t mind others ‘copying’ content. The cerebrate I set out to blog is to let information flow and not to expect anything in go (with the exception to misrepresenting modifications). [BTW: Creative Common intend to back up compose to share informations — thats how it was started. Pardon me for finding it a bit absurd to see populate using it without having the original intention in object; though I’m still fine with it. Maybe thats because I am coming from the other align of the copyright-politics.] Of course it is a fact that plagiarism is at bad. If anybody is really that disturbed the procure law is at your (the author’s) side. Else. I anticipate everyone is still able to live with this bit of plagiarism. Don’t let this -way of life- baffle your blogging passion =) Lam: Oh you are right. I have so much of them in my spambox with the label changed presented in a totally unrelated manner. Nothing I can do just leave them in spambox and not be in the trackback. XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <label> <em> <i> <touch> <strong>

"TechCrunch Goes Mad When their Post gets Copied 152 Times Without ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 21:49:50

Here at TechCrunch there is nothing we like more than when one of our posts gets linked to and talked about. And like the majority of other blogs out there we try to be good citizens by linking back to any source from which we choose. But there is a growing minority of e-mail blogs or splogs that indiscriminately act entire posts from other blogs and present them as their own. For example here is a screen shot from one random splog that just reposts TechCrunch’s entire feed with no links back to TechCrunch or change surface acknowledgement of the obtain: Just for the record taking any blog’s entire cater and republishing it as your own circumscribe is not authorise. Notice that the only difference between this splog and TechCrunch is all the explore ads splattered everywhere. We are not alone in this. Any communicate that produces fresh circumscribe on a daily basis is an easy aim. explore makes it economical to create such splogs through AdSense and then rewards them with traffic through its search engine. Google (and the other search engines) need to stop rewarding such behavior. We knew the splog problem was bad but we didn’t know bad until earlier this week when I did a (a new startup that can bring in who is copying your stuff all across the Web). I noted that Attributor open one TechCrunch post that had been copied in one way or another 572 times (not all of them bad). Copying a whole blogspot communicate is very easy, You can act one in seconds and it ordain get updated with the original everyday.. "Attack of the Splogs? One Of Our Posts Copied 152 Times Without ..." posted by ~Ray

Here at TechCrunch there is nothing we like more than when one of our posts gets linked to and talked about. And like the majority of other blogs out there we try to be good citizens by linking back to any obtain from which we excerpt. But there is a growing minority of spam blogs or splogs that indiscriminately act entire posts from other blogs and present them as their own. For example here is a screen shot from one random splog that just reposts TechCrunch’s entire feed with no links approve to TechCrunch or even acknowledgement of the obtain: Just for the preserve taking any blog’s entire feed and republishing it as your own circumscribe is not authorise. sight that the only difference between this splog and TechCrunch is all the Google ads splattered everywhere. We are not alone in this. Any blog that produces fresh content on a daily basis is an easy aim. Google makes it economical to act such splogs through AdSense and then rewards them with merchandise through its examine engine. Google (and the other search engines) be to stop rewarding such behavior. bad until earlier this week when I did a (a new startup that can bring in who is copying your stuff all across the Web). I noted that Attributor open one TechCrunch post that had been copied in one way or another 572 times (not all of them bad). Attributor catches all matches of blocks of text so I asked them to end that number down. First they threw out anything that was less than a five percent match which left us with 467 matches. Of those 315 or two thirds linked approve to the original affix. So that is the good news. It appears that most bloggers are good citizens. But 152 of them or fully one third did not link back. And of those. 115—or 25 percent of the original—were plastered with ads making money off our bring home the bacon without so much as a link. Wow what those filthy splog slobs are doing is is incredibly illegal. I hope you big dogs with popular blogs like TechCrunch who undergo a bit more resources than us common folk find a way to squash these pathetic criminals for everybody’s sake. Get on explore’s case. I say. Google has BILLIONS OF DOLLARS –– you’d evaluate they’d have the resources to pull a quick team of 3 or 4 guys and gals together who can write a quick algorithm to differentiate a legitimate Techcrunch post from a stolen one. I evaluate its sad that this is such a problem but what really can be done about it? One thing that adds to it that this article mentions is the go with which one can open an Adsense account. I undergo a younger brother who decided to start a website with just a template he downloaded. And within hours he was already approved by Adsense to displace ads on even though he had no content. I think “University Update” along with about 2 dozen info sites have been pulling my beat feed and wrapping it in Adsense for about 6 months now unfortunately it is just the adorn that we exist in. As publishers unless we want to displace a RIAA and try to litigate every ru top-level domain that runs a splog-nest then all we can do is innovate around it. Having taken a be at some of these splogs they are really only picking up a pittance for their effort. back up - we aren’t going to start suing people for doing this. It would be an incredible waste of time and it wouldn’t change surface slow the copying let alone kill it. The examine engines need to evolve to deal with this kind of stuff and effectively keep it invisible. But the problem is those google ads…explore makes money of these sites. A lot of it in the aggregate. So they have an economic incentive NOT to fix the problem. I affix some of Techcrunch articles on my blog and I always include a link back to the original affix here and I include your copyright info at the furnish of the affix. I love reading your articles and use some on my communicate with the hopes that my visitors ordain follow the link approve here and see why I enjoy Techcrunch so much (and to provide them with useful info). My blog is mixed with articles I create verbally and articles that I get from writers and blogs that allow the reprint as long as their links and personal information is kept intact. Many undergo a little “About the Author” block of text they want attached to their article if you reuse it. In my undergo many writers of these articles are happy that their material is being spread around as long as all the links to their websites/communicate are included. This helps their websites gain traction on the examine engines and provides a lot of incoming links to their sites and blogs. I’m sure that many populate actually move through and tour these site. I checked your site before I started posting articles I get from here and didn’t see any specifics about using/not using your articles. I figured it would be ok if I did it with consider to Techcrunch and the writer. I will stop using it if you rather I didn’t. By the way. I only use a small percentage of your articles and would never even consider using your entire feed. I made it for my fiance so she could check all her speak blogs from one page. I realized a bunch of people wanted this but don’t understand RSS and feed readers so I made it public and threw up a bunch of ads to recoup hosting costs. I link to all the original sources and I made sure to only go sites that specifically say it is ok to use content from their RSS feeds with ads. Some sites have 2 RSS feeds one that can be used with ads (usually is a summary with no pictures) and one that has the full data but can’t be used with ads. I know quite a few vloggers who were alarmed and disappointed when RSS made it so easy for sites to revlog their stuff without attribution or with a lot of adverts or failing to honor creative commons or other licensing terms. populate were most excited about RSS being used to allow viewers to subscribe to their cram ala podcasts and hadnt always considered the other uses such as sites the feed to copy their stuff in a fully automated way. This problem hopefully peaked for vloggers during the crazy year of the video site megahype where so many new video sites emerged and some were desperate to make it look like they had lots of circumscribe and so took liberties. Such matters ignited some discussions about exactly what the ‘non-commercial’ in certain cc licenses actually meant whether a few google ads counted. In the end verbal backlash from people who entangle ripped off was enough to get most but not all of the offending sites to mend their ways but people trying to track this stuff got overwhelmed by the number of sites emerging could often conclude desire a losing contend. Personally because I didnt be to see any tech used to try to check such things as it would also take advantage on legitimate viewers so I advocated the approach of trying to come to terms with this loss of control of distribution. The theory being that if you embed your mark & real site url in the content then anybody watching/reading it on some ripoff site who finds it worthwhile will be likely to check out your original site with ordain no disbelieve be better looking. Its not desire the splogs usually undergo any favor for people to read the stuff there people usually get to them by accident via search results. So. P2P distribution which I’ve seen your site endorse shows ads to alter money from other people’s content same as these guys. It bothers you here because.
